Bill Drumm Speaks at the Center for Supply Chain Management at the Rutgers Business School

Press Release - June 2007

The Rutgers Business School invited Bill Drumm to speak at its supply chain management certificate program titled, “Strategies For Managing Your End-to-End Supply Chain.” The three-day program covered all major aspects of supply chain management, including strategy, sourcing and procurement, operations, logistics, and organizational alignment. This program was crafted towards communicating practical lessons in supply chain strategy and implementation in order for students to take away actionable and proven ideas for implementation tailored to their business.

Attendees included supply chain and program management directors, supply chain managers, new process leaders, and procurement and sourcing professionals from Merck, Exelon, Johnson and Johnson, Hoffman-LaRoche, AstraZeneca, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Mitsubishi Electric, and other companies. The participants discussed topics in strategic sourcing, contract management, outsourcing, logistics management, strategic demand planning, aligning organizations to strategy, and customer-driven supply chains.

Bill Drumm’s presentation reviewed six case studies in global supply chains. Each case study presented a typical client situation, its global issues and the alternatives examined. Common supply chain themes include companies’ desiring cost reduction, best practices, and optimization leading to paradigmatic shifts in business models resulting in leaner, more flexible organizations poised to meet customers’ needs and requirements.
